Dr. Ferguson serves as a board member for 3 Seeds Mentoring Group.  She has a heart for service and believes that our gifts should be used in service to others.  To that end, she engages in service to her community through a variety of nonprofit organizations supporting youth, minority males, athletes, and homeless populations.  

Dr. Ferguson’s professional tenure began as a classroom educator in the south suburbs of Chicago.  In her current role as professor, Dr. Ferguson teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in teacher preparation.  Her passion for and commitment to social justice, particularly for that of marginalized groups, can be found in her research focus on Black male education. Dr. Ferguson’s life’s work is committed to supporting practitioners in their understanding of and work with culturally diverse students and providing learning environments responsive to their educational needs.
