3 Seeds Mentoring Group is a movement. We identify and assists young people from disadvantaged backgrounds who have the potential to succeed in higher education. We provide academic support, career counseling, and mentoring services designed to motivate our students to enter and successfully complete a post- secondary education program. Founded in 2014, 3 Seeds has taken an innovative approach to youth development by focusing on the following priorities:
College and Career Readiness:
Preparing students for higher education and future career opportunities is a key priority. This includes exposing students to college environments, offering internships for hands-on experience, and teaching skills that are valuable in various professional fields.
Holistic Youth Development:
Focusing on the overall growth of students, including social, emotional, and personal development. Mentoring support, after-school programs, and extracurricular activities like our podcast program contributes to students’ resilience, leadership skills, and self-confidence.
STEM and Digital Literacy:
Emphasizing STEM education and digital skills development to help students gain the competencies needed in a technology-driven world. Robotics competitions and podcasting workshops are practical ways to enhance students’ problem-solving abilities, creativity, and technical knowledge.
Equity and Access:
Ensuring that students from low-income backgrounds have equal access to opportunities that can break the cycle of poverty and open doors to future success. Providing college tours and internship opportunities addresses disparities in access to resources and experiences.
Community Engagement and Support:
Strengthening relationships with the community, families, schools, and local organizations. This priority ensures a support network is in place to sustain students’ progress and help them leverage available resources for continued growth beyond the program.
What We Do
Our Programs
We support our students by exposing them to career fields of the future, developing their ability to think critically while solving real world problems, and building their character and competence through project based learning experiences.
Upward Bound
Upward Bound provides fundamental support to participants in their preparation for college entrance. The goal of Upward Bound is to increase the rate at which participants complete secondary education and enroll in and graduate from institutions of post-secondary education
Talent Search
The Talent Search program identifies and assists individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds who have the potential to succeed in higher education. The program encourages students to graduate from high school and continue on to college.
Media Production
We expose our students to the “nontraditional” creative careers of the future. By utilizing Adobe software for projects combined with site visits and networking events, we can further develop their creative potential for the future.
